The Creative Freelancer’s Climate Almanac

The Creative Freelancer’s Climate Almanac by Julie’s Bicycle is a new directory for artists, independent creative or community practitioners, and producers engaging in climate action at the scales that are possible and productive for them. Much needed, as a lot of existing advice is either very corporate, or really banal “wash out your yogurt pots” type stuff. It has resources, links, templates, artist case studies, book recommendations and ways of looking after yourself so you don’t burn out.

One of the case studies is my video installation Unbuilt Environments, which turned utopian and dystopian environments, as described by disabled people, into explorable digital spaces. The almanac also includes a link to my appearance on JB’s Creative Climate Leadership podcast. I’m a member of the global (26 countries so far) Creative Climate Leadership cohort.

Woodcut type illustration on a muted dark blue background, with a flying owl in bright orange, bees, a hedgehog, an apple on a branch, and a cluster of mushrooms.

Not just incredibly useful and packed with information, the almanac is also nicely designed and illustrated. Available in large print, and there’s template for a green rider too.
