The Portland Office for Imaginary History

Saturday 11 September 2021, Isle of Portland, Dorset

Newspaper clipping of the Portland Lizard Man, with a dodgy "artist's impresion" of the monster.
The Portland Office for Imaginary History is back for year seven! It’s a satirical tourist information bureau providing entirely false visitor information, ecology, palaeontology, maps, (non) fact sheets, stories, walks and souvenirs from an imaginary Isle of Portland.

This year the non-walking tours from 2018 return. They’re open to all, but wheelchair and mobility scooter users are particularly encouraged to join in and visit (in our minds) Portland’s space cows, the picturesque historical kidnap area, the 19th century’s most gentlemanly man-monkey, and more.

Priority booking for people who identify as disabled. All explorers with any degree of mobility and/or disability are welcome as we will all be riding mobility scooters irrespective of walking ability.

Book early to avoid disappointment… yes, seriously. Last time there was a huge waiting list so don’t be one of the people on it this time! The rest of the festival is packed with great artists and unforgettable experiences all over this uniquely weird and weirdly unique island, and it’s well worth a trip even if you’re not based in SW England!
